Associate group leader Viola (1st Solo)

Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra have an open position for Associate group leader Viola (1st Solo). The group consists of two equal Associate 1st Solo Violas.

The Audition will be held Sunday June 9th 2024 from 10:00AM at ‘Konservatoriets koncertsal‘ Rosenørns Alle 22, 1970 Frederiksberg

REPERTOIRE:

1st round:
– 1st mov. with cadenza and 2nd mvt. of one of the following concertos:
– Hoffmeister: Viola Concerto in D major
– Stamitz: Viola Concerto in D major, Op.1
– Orchestral excerpts

2nd round:
– 1st mvt. of one of the following concertos:
– Bartók: Viola Concerto, Walton: Viola Concerto, Hindemith: Der Schwanendreher
– Orchestral excerpts

3rd round:
– Chamber music round with members from Copenhagen Phil

Some candidates may be asked to submit a ‘media file’ with the 1st round repertoire (recorded with or without piano accompaniment). We will contact you if required.

Orchestral excerpts will be sent out electronically app. 5 weeks before the audition. An accompanist will be available at the audition. Applicants are responsible for expenses in connection with both travel and rehearsal.

Salary and conditions of employments negotiable with current agreement for musicians in the Danish Regional Orchestras (‘LandsdelsOrkestrene’). Employment of non-EU residents is contingent upon the attainment of a valid work and residence permit. Applicants are responsible for expenses incurred in the attainment of such permits.

Wednesday, May 15th 2024 All candidates will receive a result on the application and whether they have been invited directly to the 1st round or must upload a media file with the 1st round repertoire.
All invited applicants will also receive the orchestral excerpts

Violin / Lumbye Akademiet

Lumbye Akademiet was established in october 2022 and is connected to the Copenhagen Philharmonic. Within the first semester the orchestra academy can look back on their student’s big success winning professional auditions and competitions. World class instrumentalists, such as Daniel Müller-Schott and members of the Berlin Philharmonic has given masterclasses and teaching from within the chamber music group to be as interactive and encouraging as possible. The education of the academe consists of a balanced mix of playing with the Copenhagen Philharmonic, participating in master classes, workshops, mental training, body awareness, mock auditions and chamber music concerts. The aim is to provide an all-around support and training in the life of a professional orchestral musician.

Lumbye Akademiets educational two-year program is directed towards high level music students or young professionals (a minimum of a Bachelor degree is required) who is interested in gaining orchestral experience and be stood by individually through the process of auditioning.

Lumbye Akademiets approach is holistic and includes all aspects of music making. Its goal is to educate and develope the instrumentalist within a context of a professional orchestra and individually, through a one to one mentorship.

Chosen candidates will be invited to audition in Copenhagen at least one month prior to the audition date.

All EU citizens are encouraged to apply no matter their religious, cultural, social background or sexual orientation.

Scholar fee
As an Lumbye Academist you will receive a monthly scholarship fee of 10.500 dkkr (before danish tax).
